Up To Date With Miss Rodeo Oregon...
 Our 2008 Miss Rodeo Oregon continues to prepare for her upcoming CORONATION to be held March 8th in St. Helens at the Columbia County Fairgrounds (Directions).  Plans include a buffet style dinner with a live and silent auction.  If you have any leads on donations to help out with the auction please contact MISS RODEO OREGON National Director Lynn Haynes at skottysmom@msn.com, 503-628-0555.

COLUMBIA RIVER CIRCUIT COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS GEAR UP FOR DNCFR:  The DODGE NATIONAL CIRCUIT FINALS RODEO (DNCFR) will be held in Pocatello, Idaho March 19 - 22 at Idaho State University's Holt Arena.  12 of the 14 CRC Contestants appearing are from OREGON!

Saddle Bronc: Ben Londo, Sam MacKenzie
Bull Riding: Dustin Smith
Tie Down Roping: Brad Goodrich, Shane Erickson

Team Roping: Brandon Beers, Dean Tuftin, Jake Stanley
Barrel Racing: Debbie Stahl, Kelly Kamm
 
RODEO FACT: Pocatello has played host to the annual DNCFR for over 20 years.  Nearly $400,000 will be up for grabs over the four-day event.  Teams from the 12 circuits will be competing for a "team" title to see which circuit's contestants can win the most total money.  To cheer on our very own Columbia River Circuit Team visit the DNCFR's official website www.dncfr.org or the PRCA www.prorodeo.com. 
The annual COWGIRLS AND CROWNS CLINIC AND THE JUDGES CERTIFICATION CLINIC sponsored by MROP, Inc. was held on February 23rd  in Sherwood.  This year 29 young ladies from across the state participated in the clinic along with 20 adults (parents/advisors/coaches/judges).  A few of the students in attendance were recipients of the "MROP Spirit Award."  Voted on my MROP Members in attendance, The Spirit Award is awarded to the contestant at pageants across the state who most reflects the "true cowgirl spirit."  The recipient receives a full scholarship to the annual Cowgirls and Crowns clinic. Instructors for the day included MROP, Inc. Executive Board Members, General Members, accredited horsemanship judges from the area and three former Miss Rodeo Oregon's: Tanya Marie Utberg (1996), Camie Johnston (2005) and Trena Loftesness (2006).  THE COWGIRL AND CROWNS CLINIC is held annually in the Portland Metro area, stay tuned and visit our clinic page for next years dates!  A big thank you to those members who served as our "support staff" and took time from their busy schedules to be with us and assist with set up, registration, kitchen duties and clothing sales : Jean McPherson, Lynn Haynes, Charlene Morris, Tanya Utberg, Angie Vachter, Myra Addington, Charlene Morris, Glenda Franich, Diana Andrews and Debbie Brownell.

in conjunction with the 22nd annual Tillamook County Rodeo.
The competition is open to anyone 17 to 27 years of age living in Tillamook County or a county that borders Tillamook County.  You must own or lease a horse, have transportation for yourself and your horse and be willing to travel.
